After a secret meeting with members of the club administration, Antonio Rudiger is said to be ready to reject Real Madrid and pursue a move to Barcelona.
Rudiger is largely anticipated to leave Chelsea on a free transfer when his contract expires on July 1, as there has been no agreement reached with the Blues over a contract extension. Chelsea are now unable to offer new contracts due to UK government sanctions, and one of their greatest defenders appears to be on the verge of leaving the club.
Rudiger and Andreas Christensen’s contracts expire this summer, and it appears that Barcelona may be able to sign both of them. Other clubs were interested in Christensen, but Sport recently announced that he has decided to join Barcelona alongside club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
Azpilicueta’s future, on the other hand, is less assured after triggering a one-year extension in his Chelsea contract by playing a set number of games this season.
He is currently under contract until June 2023, and leaving this summer would necessitate a transfer fee.
After a turnaround in results under Xavi, Barcelona are on the lookout for a new midfielder and have identified Rudiger as the next target.
On Wednesday, Sahr Senesie, Rudiger’s counsel and half-brother, met with Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany and his deputy Jordi Cruyff, according to footage released by Sky Sports.
