A 59-year-old man has been detained by the Police Command in Bauchi State for raping his neighbor’s 18-month-old child.
The event was corroborated by the command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Saturday, August 13.
He claimed the suspect was apprehended after Nenkat Danladi, the baby’s mother, reported the rape allegation to Yelwa police station.
On 09/08/2022 at about 1900hrs, one Nenkat Danladi ‘f’ aged 31yrs of Yelwan Kagadama lodged a complaint in Yelwa police station that on 06/08/2022 at about 1130hrs she met one Alhamdu Yusuf ‘m’ aged 59yrs of the same address on her bed with her daughter one Blessing (not real name) ‘f’ aged 112yrs of the same address,” the statement read.
A team of DCB personnel led by DPO Yelwa rushed the victim to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi for a medical examination based on the complaint. The suspect was arrested and an investigation commenced in earnest.
